How to Check a Czech Online Casino Licence: Whitelist, ARES and Key Czech Terms

Only operators licensed by the Czech Ministry of Finance may offer online casino games in the Czech Republic. Checking a licence takes a few minutes and two public sources, even if you do not read Czech. This guide explains the steps and the Czech terms you will meet along the way.

Why the licence matters

A licensed operator must follow rules that protect players: identity and age checks, play only from the age of 18, checks against the Register of Persons Excluded from Gambling (RVO) and payouts to the player's verified bank account. An unlicensed site offers none of these protections, and if there is a dispute about a payout or misuse of your account, there is nobody to turn to.

Czech terms you will meet

Czech termMeaning
Ministerstvo financí (MF ČR)Ministry of Finance, the authority that grants gambling licences
Přehled provozovatelů, WhitelistThe official list of licensed gambling operators
IČOCompany identification number
ARESThe public register of economic entities
RVORegister of Persons Excluded from Gambling, used for self-exclusion
BankIDOnline identity verification through your bank

Step 1: the Ministry of Finance Whitelist

The Ministry of Finance publishes a list of licensed gambling operators on mf.gov.cz. It comes as a downloadable spreadsheet and is updated from time to time, so always work with the latest version and note the date it is valid for.

  1. Open the gambling section of the Ministry website and find the list of licensed operators.
  2. Download the current file and open it in a spreadsheet program.
  3. Search for the company that runs the website and check that the domain you play on is listed with it.

Example: the file 2026-10-01_Prehled-provozovatelu-ZHH.xlsx, valid as of 1 October 2026, lists Tipsport.net a.s. (checked on 25 October 2026). The company was also listed in the previous version, valid as of 23 July 2026, for the website tipsport.cz. The list changes, so check the current status yourself.

Step 2: company details in ARES

The second source is the ARES register. Searching by IČO shows the official company name, registered office and other details. Comparing them with what the casino website says helps you spot inconsistencies, such as a company with a similar name but a different number.

Example: Tipsport.net a.s. has IČO 28178653 and its registered office at Politických vězňů 156/21, 266 01 Beroun (ARES, checked on 25 October 2026).

A brand and an operator are not the same thing

A common mistake is searching the list for a brand name. The Whitelist and ARES contain companies, not the trading names of games or sections of a website. Tipsport Vegas is the name of the casino section of the website, while the operator is the company Tipsport.net a.s., so that is the name to search for. The same applies to any other brand: first find out from the website who runs it, then check that company.

Step 3: details on the casino website

A licensed operator shows its company name and IČO on its website, usually in the footer, together with the age limit of 18 and the mandatory warning of the Ministry of Finance. In Czech it reads „Ministerstvo financí varuje: Účastí na hazardní hře může vzniknout závislost.“, which means that taking part in gambling can lead to addiction. Compare these details with the Whitelist and with ARES.

Warning signs of an unlicensed site

  • No company name or IČO, or details that cannot be found in ARES.
  • Neither the company nor the domain appears on the Whitelist.
  • Play is possible without identity or age verification.
  • Deposits and withdrawals only through cryptocurrencies or unusual payment channels.
  • An address that imitates a known brand but differs by a letter, a hyphen or the ending.
  • Bonus offers far more generous than those of licensed operators, combined with pressure to decide quickly.

If you cannot find the operator on the list

First rule out a simple mistake. Make sure you have the latest version of the file, that you are searching for the company rather than the brand, and that the name is spelled correctly. Searching for part of the name often helps, since spreadsheets can list the full legal form in different ways.

If neither the company nor the domain appears, do not register and do not deposit. Besides the list of licensed operators, the Ministry of Finance also keeps a list of unauthorised internet games, meaning websites that offer gambling in the Czech Republic without a licence. A site on that list is a clear reason to stay away. Its absence from that list, however, proves nothing on its own; what counts is being on the list of licensed operators.

A check is not a one-off task. The list changes, an operator can lose its licence and new domains appear. That is why the facts on this website always state the date they apply to and the date they were checked.

Imitation addresses lead to fake copies of legitimate sites, covered in Spotting fake casino sites and phishing messages. Why this website gives a source and date for its facts is explained on the About page, and player protection tools are described on the Responsible Gambling page.
